During this year’s California Spring Trials Sakata Ornamentals announced that it has streamlined its pansy series into a simplified offering. The company has identified 4 key pansy segments in North America: extra-large flowering, large-flowering, medium-to-small flowering, and the viola segment.
The company’s key series is the Majestic Giants II that offers extra-large flowered pansies with 4-inch blooms. The series, which has 15 varieties, can be used for fall and spring markets.
The large-flower segment includes selections from both the Dynamite and Crown series. Dynamite’s clear blooms complement Majestic Giants II blotched colors. The Crown series performs extremely well in mass plantings due to the plants’ thicker petals and leaves. The medium-to-small flowering pansy segment includes varieties from the Supreme and Ultima series. The viola segment offers Rebelina varieties which are ideal for premium baskets and containers.
