Scientific Certification Systems, a third party certification organization, is expanding its Lab-Tested and Certified Pesticide Residue Free program to include ornamental plants. For more than 20 years, SCS has issued pesticide-free certification to vegetable and fruit producers. SCS said the expansion of the certification will allow horticultural producers to assure their customers that their flowering and ornamental plants are of the highest quality and safe for consumers’ homes and gardens. SCS said growers can use the certification to demonstrate to retailers that they meet increasingly stringent safety requirements.
