“Going Beyond Liquid Feed” is a seminar scheduled for Nov. 3 at the Northeast Greenhouse Conference and Expo in Worcester, Mass. Cornell Univ. researchers Neil Mattson, Mark Bridgen and Nora Catlin will discuss research they have done during the last 4 years on fertilizer applications in outdoor garden mum production. Topics to be covered include: best rates for liquid feed; strategies for applying controlled release fertilizers in greenhouse and outdoor garden mum production; demystifying organic fertilizers and other alternative fertilizer amendments such as silicon.
The researchers will discuss the differences in plant growth obtained by using controlled release fertilizers alone and in combination with liquid feed. In additional experiments with poinsettias and bedding plants, the researchers found that controlled release fertilizers could produce plants comparable to those that received liquid feed.
