Shenandoah Growers in Harrisonburg, Va., has completed construction of a $3 million, state-of-the-art, USDA-certified organic greenhouse. The new facility adds 75,000 square feet of additional growing space, providing a year-round harvest equivalent of 50 acres of farm land. The company supplies fresh culinary herbs to major East Coast grocery stores.
The expansion created 31 new jobs. The company has experienced an 800% increase in sales over the past 10 years, growing from 20 to 150 employees, dramatically expanding its packaging and processing facilities, and managing state-of-the-art organic glass greenhouses and outdoor organic field production in Rockingham County. Over the last 10 years, Shenandoah Growers has invested over $8 million into the Virginia economy.
