The Southeast Color Connection, formerly the Southeast Greenhouse Conference, has been refocused to connect the industry face to face with targeted educational sessions, market insights and knowledgeable industry suppliers. Sponsored by the grower associations of 7 Southeast states, this event is scheduled for June 16-18 in Greenville, S.C. Attendees to the trade show on June 17-18 will receive a complimentary lunch.
In addition to extensive education tracks for growers and garden center operators, there are several workshops scheduled:
June 16
Irrigation Efficiency: Save Water, Fertilizer & Money: See a demonstration of the newest wireless, sensor-based techniques that allow participants to reduce water applied by up to 50%. Practical approaches will be presented.
A Guide to Sustainable Crop Production: This workshop will focus on the sustainable management for the critical production inputs of nutrition and water, the environment and plant height management.
June 17
Disease Identification: Working with a partner, attendees will learn tricks and tips for identifying diseases of floral crops with a microscope and quick kits for virus testing. This session is eligible for pesticide recertification credit.
Insect Identification: This workshop is a hands-on session in which participants will be able to look at specimens of major greenhouse insect and mite pests. Microscopes and hand lenses will be provided to study the characteristics of all major pests groups. Attendees will also have an opportunity to talk with pest control experts about their own pest problems. This session is eligible for pesticide recertification credit.
This year’s Southeast Color Connection offers several grower workshops that are hands-on focusing on irrigation, sustainable crop production and disease and insect identification.
