Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers has scheduled five regional meetings to be held this summer. The meetings are informal, usually one-day gatherings at which growers can tour cut flower farms, research facilities or other points of interest, listen to a variety of speakers and participate in networking opportunities.
All growers are welcome to attend. People interested in learning more about cut flower production and marketing are encouraged to participate. Educational session topics include cut garden roses, bouquet making, wedding flowers, woody plants, growing media and postharvest handling.
June 26: A combined West and Northwest Regional Meeting, Central Point, Ore. Tours of Newflora Roses and Le Mera Gardens will be featured.
July 16-17: Northeast Regional Meeting, Burlington, Vt. Stray Cat Farm, The Painted Tulip and Third Branch Flower will be open for tours.
Aug. 1: South & Central Regional Meeting, Cuts of Color in Weimar, Texas.
Aug. 8: Midwest Regional Meeting, Ohio St. Univ.-OARDC, Wooster, Ohio. The meeting will include a tour of the Secrest Arboretum and seminars on postharvest, organic weed management and floral design.
Aug. 15: Southeast Regional Meeting, Charleston, S.C. Event will include morning educational sessions and an afternoon tour of Magnolia Plantations and Gardens.
