Terra Nova Nurseries announced two new “sneak peek” varieties for growers: Eupatorium ‘Capri’ and Agastache ‘Violet Vision.’ These introductions are among many new cultivars the company will be introducing to the marketplace for 2013.
‘Capri’ is a new dwarf variegated eupatorium that grows well with others in containers and in the garden. It has frilled, feather-like foliage that is emerald green, lined with a soft cream color and tinged with pink and rose. Tiny lavender-pink flowers bloom mid-summer, which help attract butterflies. This variety requires average soil as well as sun and partial shade for maximum performance. The average size is 18 inches wide and 21 inches tall, with a flower height of 24 inches. ‘Capri’ grows well in Zones 4 to 8.
Agastache ‘Violet Vision’ has luxurious purple spikes that wave in the breeze, carrying a sweet, honey-licorice scent that also attracts butterflies. It has the same width and flower height as ‘Capri,’ and it grows well in Zones 5 to 10. Hardy, vigorous and disease- resistant, ‘Violet Vision’ is ideal for mid-borders or in containers. It has an upright, clumping habit and requires well-drained, fertile soil and full sun.
