CANBY, Ore. -- Terra Nova Nurseries has announced a new 2013 “Sneak Peek” variety, Brunnera ‘Alexander’s Great’. Bred by renowned plant breeder Alexander Zukeivich, ‘Alexander’s Great’ has gigantic leaves that form a bushel-basket of silver-flecked foliage. Sure to be a show-stopper in landscapes and containers, this brunnera is poised to capture the attention of growers across the globe.
‘Alexander’s Great’ has extremely large, white-veiled leaves and produces sky-blue flowers in spring. Compared to Brunnera ‘Jack Frost’, it has much larger leaves and a bigger plant size, filling containers much faster. Company experts advise growers to use well-drained, moist, organic soils. In addition to planting in containers, borders and beds, ‘Alexander’s Great’ can be used as a shade accent plant. Terra Nova Nurseries recommends growing it under 35% shade during the summer months for optimal performance. The average size of ‘Alexander’s Great’ is 12” Height / 28” Wide / 15” Flower Height and it grows best in zones 4-8.
Terra Nova Nurseries has created a “Plant Profile” page and “Grower Recipe” specific to ‘Alexander’s Great’ so growers interested in possible liner orders can learn about growing habits, plant characteristics, fertilization recommendations, water requirements, and other insights provided by the breeding team. These documents can be obtained by contacting Terra Nova Nurseries’ sales team at sales@terranovanurseries.com.
