Terra Nova Nurseries has announced new 2013 “Sneak Peek” introductions now available to growers. Heucherella ‘Twilight,' Echinacea Bird™ ‘Sunbird,' and a brand new collection of dicentra varieties called the Dicentra Amore™ series are included in the introduction.
Heucherella ‘Twilight’ brings simplicity to the garden with its velvety, charcoal-gray leaves that easily blend with neighboring plants and colors. This low-growing, medium-broad plant has symmetrically arranged leaves that work well in mass, as an understory, mixed beds, containers, and landscapes. With few flowers, this plant requires little maintenance, but for maximum performance plant in well-drained, humus-rich soils in zones 4-9. The average size includes 9” Width / 24” Height / 12” Flower Height.
Echinacea ‘Sunbird’ is the third addition to the company’s Echinacea Bird™ series, and like Echinacea 'Firebird,' it has a wonderful habit and compact size. This variety has gold shuttlecock-shaped flowers that hold their color throughout its unusually long life span. A fragrant cut flower, ‘Sunbird’ also works well in mass landscapes and mixed beds when planted in coarse and slightly mineral soils with full sun exposure. The average size includes 19” Width / 14” Height / 22” Flower Height.
The new dicentra series includes Dicentra Amore™ ‘Amore Pink’ and Dicentra Amore™ ‘Amore Rose.' Both varieties have an admirable performance in the garden, producing bountiful flowers throughout the spring and summer months. The Dicentra Amore series has superior vigor with a dwarf habit. For optimal performance they should be planted in part to full shade in zones 5 – 9. The average size of both varieties includes 9” Width / 14” Height / 14” Flower Height.
