Thomas Orr has been promoted to president of Pöppelmann Plastics USA. He became president on March 1, upon the retirement of Jack Shelton. Shelton opened the company’s first U.S. operation. Shelton will continue to serve on a consulting basis and as a member of the board.
Orr joined the company in May 2010 as vice president of operations. Prior to employment with Pöppelmann, Orr was owner and president of a North Carolina custom-furniture manufacturer producing upholstered furniture for the interior design and decorator trade. He spent 20 years with manufacturing companies, holding executive positions in sales, marketing, operations, and finance. His experience includes the development, marketing and sales of products for manufacturing, distributor and retail customers.
Pöppelmann Plastics USA was founded in 2000 as the first North American subsidiary of Germany-based Pöppelmann Holding GmbH & Co. KG, a maker of horticultural products. Pöppelmann’s U.S. operation is part of the company’s TEKU division, which has sold to North American commercial greenhouse, nursery and retail markets since 2001.
