Vaughan’s Horticulture adds two to North American sales team

SAN DIEGO, CA – Vaughan’s Horticulture, a division of McHutchison Horticultural Distributors, is strategically expanding their North American sales team with two new hires to better serve key markets. Galen Dokter has been hired as the newest sales representative in the Mountain States for the company and Marty Moore has been hired for the Southeastern U.S. Both representatives have a long history selling in the industry, with 44 years of combined experience selling in their respective territories.

Galen comes from Dutch roots with his family having been involved in horticulture for the last four generations. He is a graduate from Iowa Lakes College with a degree in Horticulture and Plant Science as well as graduate of Northwest Iowa College with a degree in Agri-Business Management. Galen started in the industry owning his own business in Iowa from 1979-1996 growing and selling retail and wholesale young and finished plants to the industry. In 1996, Galen came to Colorado and assumed a Horticulturist position with Denver Wholesale Florist working with growers in Colorado and Wyoming on the growing of their crops. In 1997, Galen joined the then Vaughan's Seed CO., which later became Novartis, then Syngenta Horticultural Services and most recently SHS Griffin in December of 2012.

Dokter will help expand the Vaughan’s company into new customers and broaden the company’s support to key accounts in the Rocky Mountain territory. “We are thrilled to have Galen on our team,” says Keith Cable, Vice President of Vaughan’s Horticulture. “We’ve worked great together in the past and are very excited of the opportunities we can bring to each other and his customers.” Galen will be filling a new sales territory, working to assist growers with crop planning and providing plant materials to customers in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico and Northeast Utah.

Marty Moore graduated from North Carolina State University in 1980, with a bachelors of science in Horticulture Science. Marty began his horticulture sales and consulting career in 1991 with Ball Seed in Georgia and Florida. In 1996, Marty began with Michell's where he served the same territory for more than 20 years. Marty, along with his wife Wanda, will be expanding the Vaughan’s sales team into the Southeast, offering their customers a more diverse portfolio of products.

Moore has extensive experience in greenhouse plants, Deep South perennials and grasses. “Marty is going to make a great addition to the Vaughan’s sales team,” says Keith Cable, Vice President of Vaughan’s Horticulture, “He brings a lot of passion, enthusiasm and personality to the role and knows the territory incredibly well.” Marty and his wife Wanda will be working as a team in this new territory to provide an wider range of products for their customers paired with outstanding customer support.
