The American Garden Award is the 1st nat’l. competition designed to allow Americans to vote for their favorite flower. 3 petunias, 1 pentas, 1 rudbeckia and 1 vinca have been entered in this year’s competition, which are currently on display at 17 public gardens across the country The flowers in this competition are labeled by variety name and are available in retail stores. Garden visitors can use their cell phones to text message their vote or they can call a toll-free number to select their favorite plant. The top 3 vote getters will be introduced this fall as American Garden Award winners. Rudbeckia ‘Tiger Eye Gold’ is the current leader.
